Parks and green space comprise much of the East Side, and are a focal point of many neighborhoods. Parks in this area include Elvehjem, Acewood, Sycamore, Heritage Prairie, Heritage Heights, Heritage Sanctuary, and several dozen other outdoor venues that feature bike paths, playgrounds, and conservation areas.
Many of Madison’s most active neighborhood associations reside on the East Side. Fourth of July parades, Easter egg hunts, Halloween bonfires, winter celebrations, park clean-ups, summer picnics, and other annual events bring neighbors together and promote a strong sense of community.
